Loan out a Barcode Scanner

Need extra barcode scanners to reconcile your chemical inventory? Stop by one of our stockrooms to loan one out!

Why do I need a Barcode Scanner?

Barcode scanners are used when it is time for your lab to conduct their annual chemical inventory reconciliation. This process is critical for labs because it helps ensure the accuracy of the recorded data for their chemical inventory which in the long run, will create a safer lab environment. This is done by verifying that chemicals are physically present in your lab and in the correct location listed. This is essential information that First Responders will need to know in case of any kind of emergency.

Obtaining a Barcode Scanner

Our ChemCentral stockrooms have multiple barcode scanners ready to be loaned out. Drop by one of many locations throughout various campus buildings.

Grab a scanner and using your phone, scan our Barcode Scanner Loan Out Station QR Code. This will take you to our Smartsheet where you will enter the corresponding barcode information which will complete the check out process. We allow researchers to borrow the scanners for two weeks, but if you want an extension, simply let us know through email and we will note it down on our record and extend it for another week.
